Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates, P.A. was founded in 1984 under the guidance of W. James Downs, Jr., P.T., E.C.S. and his carefully selected associates. Tidewater opened its first clinic in Easton, Maryland at the request of local physicians who were seeking progressive physical therapy services for their patients. Due to Jim's professional contact, in his specialty field of Electroneuromyography, with physicians throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, he was soon asked to have Tidewater Physical Therapy provide a full range of physical therapy services throughout these physicians' communities. Today we have 15 locally owned outpatient clinics throughout the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Southern Delaware.

Our mission at Tidewater Physical Therapy is to provide high quality physical therapy and rehabilitation services at "grass roots" locations personalized to meet out patient's needs. Keeping our mission at the forefront of our therapy, as well as being a locally owned, Medicare certified rehabilitation agency, sets our company apart from other practices. However, with the changes in health care over the past years it is not enough to give quality care in order to survive in a private setting. Our survival has been due to having strong relationships with referring physicians, developing participating agreements with all major insurance companies and being active in our communities.

We are excited about the year ahead and the rewarding work we will get to do. We are busy working with companies in our area on the IMPACC program. With the changes in the OSHA regulations, companies are turning to us to provide a workplace injury, claims and cost prevention program. Looking ahead we are putting more of a focus into Health and Wellness in our clinics. We see the need in our communities to have a supervised setting for people to exercise in that do not feel comfortable going to an athletic club. We are always looking for opportunities to associate ourselves with other professional organizations that believe that quality health care and highly trained professionals are a necessary formula for caring for their members, employees or patients. REGIONAL REHAB

Regional Rehab is a growing network of outpatient centers that offers physical rehabilitation services throughout the Washington D.C.- Baltimore corridor. Regional Rehab is part of the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH). Regional Rehab participates in Regional Occupational Health Partners (ROHP), which is an integrated network of healthcare providers that offers a comprehensive range of occupational and environmental health services to public and private businesses. ROHP's continuum includes prevention, assessment, treatment and return to work services. Regional Rehab and other components of the Medstar Outpatient Rehabilitation network, as well as Physiotherapy Associates comprise the therapy component of ROHP. A number of centers are a joint service of National Rehabilitation Hospital and Calvert Memorial Hospital, Calvert Physical Therapy and Sports Fitness, Avista Hospital, St.Mary's Hospital and Suburban Hospital.
