IMPACC INC.

IMPACC INC. is a team of industrial physical therapists specializing in ergonomics and work injury prevention, including back strain, tendinitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. IMPACC has helped over 450 workplaces across the USA since 1981, including several Fortune 500 firms, with reductions in lost days ranging from 40% to 90%, many with improved productivity.

Worker Compensation problems go beyond ergonomic design issues to include worker behaviors, supervisor attitudes, management policies and employee relations. We address all these issues as sources of the problem. We address injuries, claims and Compensation costs as three separate issues. The IMPACC program seeks to enlighten managers and supervisors about how certain policies and attitudes affect their Worker Compensation problem, seeking to correct counter-productive workplace politics. The program then seeks to motivate workers to commit to self-care and fatigue avoidance behaviors, thus maintaining a healthy body with which to earn a living. This is a Total Quality Management approach.

IMPACC INC. strategies are based on the advanced ergonomics research and experience of Britain, Scandinavia and Australia. We first provide an ERGONOMIC WORK RISK ANALYSIS to identify the risk factors for ergonomics injury so that we may recommend corrective actions. This becomes the company's first draft of an ERGONOMICS PLAN. Next, Manager/ Supervisor Training builds a management team of committed experts on controlling injuries, claims and costs. Employee WorkSmart Training follows to instill employee self-protection skills. This process is concluded with ErgoTeam Training to the company's select Ergonomics Team to leave the company with a team for maximum long-range success.

IMPACC INC.'s program is built around OSHA Ergonomics Guidelines 3123, to maximize compliance with OSHA. IMPACC INC. and its founder, Lauren Andrew Hebert, PT, enjoy widespread national and international recognition, having published many articles and books and received international lecture invitations. In 1991, NATION'S BUSINESS magazine and the U S Chamber of Commerce named IMPACC one of the Top 200 Blue Chip Enterprise companies in the U.S. for pioneering work in work injury prevention.

Massabesic Health Resources, PA (MHR) is an independent, Physical Therapy Clinic located in Southern Maine, Geographically accessible, quality, Physical Therapy services became available to serve the local communities in 1987. Patients' time and energies continue to be re-directed towards accelerating the health gain vs. expended commuting. In concert with Southern Maine Physicians and Employers, MHR has a demonstrated track record of providing successful Physical Therapy interventions on a consistent basis for a host of neuromusculoskeletal disorders.

Work Injury Management & Claims Prevention Services are an integral part of the MRH delivery style in-house and on-site. MHR's Clinical Director and Physical Therapist Simone L. Palmer, Magna Cum Laude Graduate of University of New England, 1985, initiated her career-long professional and mentoring association with Lauren A. Hebert, PT, OCS, Founder of IMPACC during her undergraduate years.

Becoming an IMPACC provider of the nation's premier Work Injury Control & Management Company in the 1990's was an essential step towards achieving greater clinical effectiveness. By reaching outside the clinic's walls and educating industry's management and workers in a variety of commercial settings, the reduction of preventable injuries, lost time claims and healthcare costs continues to be an anticipated and predictable outcome.

Massabesic Health Resources' Physical Therapists are highly trained professionals that examine and individually design effective treatment regimens to resolve common neuromusculoskeletal problems and motivate a varied work force. Injured workers learn to effectively participate in their functional return to a healthier lifestyle. In-house, the treatment philosophy incorporates an integrated systems model (of key focus are the cardiovascular-pulmonary, integumentary, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular body systems). A Sports Medicine Approach is prerequisite and calls for early intervention for rapid resolution. Soft tissue treatment strategies are three-fold: 1) reduce and control inflammation 2) restore pain free movement patterns ie.functional motion 3) re-train the injured tissues. MHR PT's apply state of the art examination and treatment methods utilizing physical agents including electrotherapy, orthopedic manual therapeutic techniques (skilled hand-on procedures) and a host of graded therapeutic exercises: aquatic-land based, case-specific to critically target affected structures. The biomechanical principles applied dose the loading and unloading of healing tissues to facilitate functional strengthening and endurance re-building.
